Bathroom Blinds

Choosing blinds for the bathroom requires some special considerations. The relative privacy required in this room as well as the humidity factor are just two of the constraints that affect the choice of blinds for a bathroom. Although the general use of blinds are to block the sun and to create privacy, there is a heightened need for privacy in the bathroom and most consumers of bathroom blinds pay special consideration to the amount of privacy that the bathroom blinds they choose will provide them. Additionally, homeowners who are adding blinds to their bathroom should concern themselves with choosing blinds that will not be damaged by exposure to water. There are a number of options that work well for bathroom blinds including aluminum blinds, faux wooden blinds and with the right precautionary measures wooden blinds may even work well.

Aluminum is an ideal material for bathroom blinds for a number of reasons. First the opaqueness of the material lends well to a private setting. Secondly aluminum is a material that will not be adversely affected by prolonged exposure to humidity. Aluminum blinds also work well in a bathroom environment because they are available in a variety of colors making it feasible that there are bathroom blinds available in the form of aluminum blinds that will match any décor imaginable.

Faux wooden blinds are another excellent choice for homeowners looking to spruce up their bathroom with new blinds. Bathroom blinds made out of faux wooden have a few appealing characteristics. Faux blinds have the distinct advantage of having the look of wooden blinds without the susceptibility to water damage. Faux blinds can be crafted to resemble various types of wood and can be very attractive options for bathroom blinds. While they have the beauty of real wood blinds, these blinds are often made from synthetic materials that are water resistant and that will not warp in humid conditions making them an ideal option for bathroom blinds.

Believe it or not wood can sometimes be an acceptable material for bathroom blinds. The use of wood blinds in the bathroom, however, comes with the caveat that there is a great deal of work involved upfront to treat the wood so that it will not be prone to warping in the humidity of the bathroom. Additionally these blinds may require more maintenance to preserve them then other blinds and may not last as long as aluminum or faux wood blinds when used in the bathroom.

Venetian Blinds

Venetian blinds were discovered by Venetian merchants who were traveling in Far East countries. Venetian blinds are a popular type that can be found in many households, as they are simple and give effective protection from the sunlight. The blinds consist of slats of horizontal and overlapping material. This allows for the blinds to be utilized in various fashions. For example, when the blinds are fully closed, they can completely block the external light from coming in and the blinds can also be adjusted to allow just the amount of light that you would like. What makes the Venetian blinds even more desirable is that they can be rolled all the way up if you wish to have complete light to come through your window.

There are four different types of Venetian blinds:

Wooden Venetian blinds are made from various types of wood. They can give an exotic and elegant look to your home since They can be crafted with great intricacy. It is no surprise that the Wooden Venetian blinds are the most expensive version of This type of blind.

Lightweight aluminum Venetian blinds are available in a variety of colors. These thinly slated blinds have now become a common feature in both homes and commercial premises.

PVC Venetian Blinds – these types of blinds are inexpensive, long lasting and very practical.

Mini blinds – this is a type of Venetian blind that has narrow slats and is normally used to keep more light out.

The range of Venetian Blinds available in the market today, with many styles, designs and prices, have made them one of the most popular and affordable types of blinds today.

Types of Blinds

Shades and blinds are an excellent option to combat excess light filtering into any rooms of a house. There are various types of blinds available in the market as well as on the Net. There are four basic types of blinds, namely, PVC, composite, value and premium wood blinds. Depending on the décor of the house, people can opt for a particular type of blind.

Faux or PVC blinds are made of poly vinyl chloride, which could be either solid or foamed, as per requirement. They are known to be long lasting, can resist UV and moisture, and are very easy to clean. Their slats are very heavy, though. These blinds are cheap since the slats and other parts are made of PVC.

Composite blinds are a fairly recent entry into the market. The slats come in flat or elliptical shapes. The slat surface is generally poly-coated. The choice of colors is limited. Composite blinds are priced in the low- to mid-range. They are quite sturdy, and UV and water-resistant. They are less likely to rot and easier to clean. Composite blinds are lighter than PVC blinds, but heavier than the wood variety.

Value and premium wood blinds are made from Oriental hardwoods. The slats of premium wood blinds are made of American hardwoods such as basswood. Wood blinds are the most exclusive blinds a buyer can go in for. Wood blind slats are the lightest of all blinds and are the best bet for large windows.

Customers may choose blinds according to personal preference, for light-filtering, room darkening or simply as a part of elaborate interior decoration. There are choices that can be made in fabric, color and style, as per their requirements and budget. Elite customers can also opt for some of the top brands in blinds such as Bali, Hunter Douglas and Graber.

Blinds 101

Blinds are window coverings that come with either vertical or horizontal slats. They are used to enhance interiors and for partial or complete blockage of light. They are convenient and easy to use and install. They come in a variety of styles, textures and sizes, are extremely delicate, and add grace and charm to a room. They can be simple or exclusively designed.

Blinds 101 are the basic models of blinds. They are the functional models and come without any frills. They may not be visually very aesthetic, but are very efficient sun shields for any room.

When shopping for blinds, it is recommended to know the various types available on the market. Family and friends who have them should be consulted before a purchase. Getting an expert opinion is also recommended. The buyer can also get quotes online anytime.

Grab and go blinds are pre-cut shades that the customer can buy off the shelf. These are made to common, nonspecific window sizes. These blinds do not fit as well as custom-made blinds or shades. They are also the lowest-priced blinds on the market, since they are made of lightweight, cheap materials and lower quality hardware. There is not much of a choice in sizes or colors, and they also lack a warranty. They generally do not have a very long life. Since they are cheap, they make a good choice for certain places like basements, garages and attics, which are not the homes show-window. These blinds are available at most reduction chain stores, large department stores and home enhancement centers.

Blinds can be purchased locally. They can be ordered online as well. However, it is important to verify the credibility of the suppliers to avoid getting duped or end up with cheap material.

Blinds to Go

Blinds are very much in demand this time. Most household would prefer using blinds rather than the conventional thick curtains. There are many benefits in using blinds and shades. One of those is the easy to clean feature of the blinds. Blinds do not need to be washed in order for it to be cleaned. You can simply wipe it with cloth to remove the dusts.

In the US alone, there are already many companies that manufacture blinds. Most of these companies begin doing the business since 1950’s. They have made their own legacies and marketing strategies to attract more customers. Most of the blind manufacturers would make their own product and sell it on a factory price.

Blinds to Go is one of the companies that make their own product and retail it at a factory price. Their marketing involves simple customer relationship building and low price but strategic selling.

Blinds to Go was established by David Shiller. Before the conceptualization of Blinds to Go, David Shiller literally travels all around Quebec to sell his product door-to-door. It was in 1954 when he officially opened a store named Au Bon Marché in Montreal. During his first years in the business he sells whatever product he can sell, until 1976 when Stephen Shiller, David’s son, joined the company and proposed a new business. Stephen later convinced his father to focus to one product to sell; blinds. They started selling blinds bought from other manufacturer and later got an idea to make their own blinds for further customer service. By doing so, they can sell their blinds for low price or termed as factory price. They can also deliver the blinds faster unlike when the blinds need to be ordered from another company.

The store later expanded and customer demand becomes greater. The profit of the company increased as the demand and the customers also increased. The store grew literally and the Shillers are obliged to add personnel to help them manage the business. Later on, Au Bon Marché became the store where everybody shops for blinds and shades in Quebec. In a span of 5 years, the store became bigger as it expanded about six times. There was a time when the company has to hire 17 Managers and 168 Sales Associates to help them run the business.

This time, the Shillers have already opened more than 120 superstores all over Canada and US. These superstores operate under Le Marché du Store ad Blinds To Go.

Blinds

Windows are an essential part of any home, office or any building because they allow natural light to come inside. Apart from that, windows enable us to look outside without actually having to leave home. However, there are times when there can be too much light coming in at a certain time of the day, and other times when we need privacy; hence, the need to cover the window. This is when blinds come into play.

Blinds have become increasingly popular compared to curtains, especially in offices and public buildings. Blinds are the best choice because they give the best overall coverage and protection, come in various styles and colors, and can be made to fit all size of windows. Blinds also last longer than any fabric material, are easier to clean, easy to maintain and, most importantly, they can protect your furniture and carpet from the bright ultraviolet light of the sun.

To get your money’s worth, do not settle for second-rate blinds. Getting blinds is an investment; they should last until you get tired of them or until they have worn out beyond their years. Getting the right blinds to suit your taste is also important, because they are going to be ‘hanging’ around for awhile. Blinds should also be easy to handle, which means opening and closing them should be a breeze.

You will be dazzled by your choices when you are actually on the hunt for the perfect blinds, as there are literally hundreds of different styles and colors to pick from, ranging from simple to exotic and funky. Whatever you fancy, choose the blinds that best suit your home or wherever you intend to place them, and make sure the color is also in perfect coordination with the color of the walls and tiles. The following are types of blinds you can choose from:

--Vertical window blinds – these may not be the best choice of blinds because they can easily break if not handled carefully, and changing them can also be a bit troublesome. However, they are still widely used because they are a cheaper alternative and e

--Plantation shutter window blinds – newly constructed homes now have opted for this kind of blinds as a standard choice because they are easy to clean and gives a homely touch. The only drawback is that to open them all the way you need to stand clear;

--Roman shade window blinds – these are great since they come in various fabrics and styles, but lack in 100% protection. They do not block out enough light, as we would like, especially in more private rooms like the bedroom.

If you are thinking of purchasing blinds remember to look for the kind of material you would like, whether it be wood, plastic or bamboo, and also if you would prefer the cords or cordless types.
